Apparently, what the world really, really needed was Occulto TV’s Italian YouTube video introduction to the VMs hosted by Micky Bet. So isn’t it just a huge piece of luck that’s this is what it just got? Here’s Micky with Wilfrid Voynich (he’s the one with the glasses). Scorchio!
In case you didn’t know, Micky also appears on Naked News, where her write-up says:
Micky Bet was born and raised in Milan. 29 years old with working experiences in show biz and broadcasting. Joins the Naked News team in may 2008. Friendly face and impeccable diction that recalls the Italian TV anchors of the 80-s. She has a special tattoo that the members of Naked News have discovered. She loves to spend her holidays in Sardegna. You can see her in almost all our segments of daily news, gossip, show biz. She likes specially football and once said that she would love to dedicate time to segments like automotive. She has decided to join Naked News because she considers it as “the most unique experience of her life”.
You see, I told you the VMs had a link with Milan. 🙂 Enjoy!
Who is the fellow on display around 1:55?
It’s definitely not Rudolph (you can’t miss that man’s chin!) and he barely resembles Jacob de Tepenec (at least on the picture I’m comparing him to). She says “Praga” about the same time as the face pops up, so it must be a man with some connection to Prague…
Sorry, I didn’t notice that there was a background, I’ll have to watch
herit all over again. =:-)The figure peering somewhat nervously over Micky Bet’s shoulder at 1:55 is actually Athanasius Kircher. 🙂
…And Kircher is related to Prague through Baresch, of course. So it all makes sense. Thanks!
It seems to me a simply and poor introduction to VM.
But the only thing I appriciate is that this video maybe, and I said maybe, can awakes some italian’s minds fall asleep a long ago cursed by our non-sense televisions…
It’s completely true that it contains a number of basic factual errors (calling Newbold “William Romaine”, for example): and it is also completely true that it would have been more factually interesting and accurate had it been presented by (say) Rene Zandbergen.
However (and unfortunately for Mr Z), Micky Bet just managed to get the vote on this occasion. Perhaps the insider hint & tip is to get your own unusual tattoo (perhaps a Hieroglyphic Monad?)? That should help others compete more effectively against Ms Bet for future YouTube presenting gigs. 😉
Perhaps what Italian VMs researchers need is for Berlusconi to pronounce the VMs a fake?
That way they can all feel comfortable about agreeing it’s genuine. 🙂
Well, well,
had I watched this without sound, I would have still known from which
country it came 😀 Obviously, nobody would have liked to see me
instead… There was the 1666 for the Marci letter, and John Dee
should really not have been mentioned at all in such a short blurb.
But that last bit is just my opinion…
Well… with the right esoteric tattoo, you might just land the next presenting gig. “Never say never” in showbiz! 🙂
Maybe Micky Bet is imitating a Voynich nymph. Ya think? 🙂
Dream on! 🙂
Funny you should mention it Dennis, since my very first thought when I saw the image in the blog post was “wow, that girl really looks like a Voynich nymph”.
Is this where the link with the sherry / absinth thread is established?
To stay on the topic of Voynich documentaries in Romance languages, here’s
a spanish one in three episodes (sorry if it was already posted before):

Yes, I picked up on this Spanish Voynich thing ages ago, but didn’t really think it was particularly notable. 🙁
I’ll stick with Micky Bet, if that’s OK with you. 🙂
So that’s it, then… the standard to be met and beaten by the Austrian
competition 🙂
Rene
Hmmm… I suspect that they may be somewhat better resourced for this project than Occulto TV. 🙂
Nick: It always strikes me as curious that there appear to be so few Voynich researchers in Italy given that this is the land that some Voynich researchers believe is where the manuscript originates.
(I am not counting Micky Bet as a serious Voynich researcher.)
Mark: I believe that there are quite a few Italians with an interest in the Voynich, but few who we would comfortably classify as Voynich researchers. Perhaps this will change soon, who can tell?
I won’t hear a bad word said about Mickey Bet.
Rene, all three links are considered deleted.
Is that the truth or is it mine?
