How do you make an egg flip?

Show it a soldier who’s ready to dip!

Best Christmas wishes to all Cipher Mysteries readers and commenters, even the slightly crazy ones (and no, I don’t mean you, you’re not crazy at all, I swear).

    Merry Christmas!

  2. Merry Christmas, from one crazy one.
    🎄

  3. Thanks, Nick! Merry Christmas to you as well, and thanks for all the work you do moderating this site.

    Beautiful tree, Pat! Wowee! Gorgeous!

  4. Merry Christmas to the Pellings, and a Happy New Year. Just please remember some of us don’t live in Commonwealth countries, and annotate things like that. I kind of half got that because there’s a _Midsomer Murders_ episode where reference is made to someone liking their soldiers dunked in the yolk (of a soft-boiled egg), but had to Google “egg flip”.

  5. Karl Kluge: a very Merry Christmas to you too! Alas, I just post random stuff here that amuses me (such as my egg flip joke) or interests me (e.g. my 743 Roswell posts), both of which I can only apologise for. But you’ll be pleased to hear that I have some Voynich posts on the way, which I’m hoping will be more palatable (though perhaps not quite as dunkable).

    Karl,
    You want your riddles annotated? Bit like wanting a crossword filled in but ok – here’s one from a whole collection, each translated and annotated.
    Mira tibi referam nostrae primordia vitae:
    Nondum natus eram, nec eram iam matris in alvo;
    Iam posito partu natum me nemo videbat.

    Merry days all and a curtsey to our host.

    Happy New Year to all contributors and readers, and especially to my Top Fans Nick, Pete Bowes and “impish ghoul” Dusty Spring-Heeled.

    A modest ceremony will be held at The Wellington, Gloucester Road, Bristol this Saturday evening to present novelty magic mugs – very appropriate – to my special followers.

    See you there boys.

  9. Steve H: even if I’m not passing The Wellington on Saturday, I’ll find a suitable resting place in your honour.
